Repentance

  1. The Christian who has stopped repenting has stopped growing.

  2. Obedience is the positive side of repentance.

  3. True repentance is to cease from sin.

  4. To do so no more is the truest repentance.

  5. Remorse is being sorry. Repentance is being sorry enough to stop.

  6. He grieves truly that weeps without a witness.

  7. True repentance is not just being sorry: It is metanoia, Greek for a complete change of mind & heart & direction–a whole new man–a new personality–a new creature in Christ Jesus–born again!–David Brandt Berg

  8. God gives us all a certain time to repent. He is patient & He is loving & He waits for us to repent. But when He’s given us plenty of time to change our minds, plenty of time to make the right decision, the right choice & to go His way, & yet we still refuse to do it, there comes a limit to how far He’ll let you go.–David Brandt Berg

  9. The difference between David & Saul was that Saul kept getting caught & he kept getting admonished & even exposed, & he would always be sorry & cry, but then he’d go right back & do it again! But David really repented & changed & asked God to forgive him, & the Lord did.–David Brandt Berg

  10. ‘Tis not enough to say,
    “I’m sorry & repent,”
And then go on from day to day
    Just as I always went.
    Repentance is to leave
    The sins I loved before,
And show that I in earnest grieve
    By doing them no more.”

  11. Confession without change is just a game.
